What did you want to be when you were a kid?

When I was a kid, my favorite thing to do was ‘play school’ so I always thought I would be a teacher. Even though that didn’t happen, I loved being a troop leader when my daughter was in Girl Scouts.

How would your friends describe you?

I think my friends would say I am dependable, thoughtful, kind, and always willing to listen.

What are your hobbies?

Reading, listening to music, cooking, seeing Broadway shows (in Chicago!).

What's your favorite family tradition?

The holidays – I love hosting Thanksgiving and making all the traditional favorite foods.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My family.

What was your first job?

At 16, I was a stock girl at a bridal store; my co-workers and I would try on bridal gowns when it wasn’t busy!

What is your favorite thing about your career?

My career started when I was very young and working for the John O. Butler Company before Sunstar purchased them. I worked full time for 18 years, then transitioned to a part time independent contractor working on the company’s intellectual property while I raised my children, and then came back to full time 10 years ago. Even though I’ve been with the same company all these years, I have worked for many different people (including the previous owners), and because my job is never the same day to day, it’s never boring.

Tell us in one sentence what do you do at Sunstar.

As an EA, I provide administrative support to the President of SAI and other executives by managing schedules, meetings, communications and other tasks, including working with our intellectual property attorneys.

What is the best part of working at Sunstar?

Being proud of the wonderful products we make and knowing they help consumers stay healthy. Also, the friendships I’ve made and maintained over the years.

What would you like Sunstar to look like in its 100th anniversary?

I would love to see Sunstar continue to grow its product line with new and innovative products while maintaining a culture that prioritizes the well-being and development of the employees.
