Mission
Lead and evolve Sunstar's enterprise-wide data function, ensuring high-quality, governed, and trusted data across all business domains. The Head of Data will establish and operate a global data organization, drive data governance and stewardship, and build the foundations required for business transformation, advanced analytics, and future AI capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead Sunstar's global data function across governance, quality, architecture, master data management, and analytics enablement, ensuring alignment with transformation priorities.
- Deliver and maintain a trusted enterprise-wide source of truth supporting critical business platforms and transformation programs, including ERP, EPM, HRIS, and group reporting.
- Establish, scale, and lead the central Data GBS organization, including data governance, master data management, data privacy, and data analysis capabilities.
- Define and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, decision rights, and stewardship models across regions and business functions.
- Drive enterprise-wide data quality improvements through measurable KPIs, stewardship accountability, issue resolution processes, and ongoing data-cleansing activities.
- Own and evolve master data management processes across key domains including Customer, Vendor, Material/Product, and Finance, ensuring robust lifecycle and change-control management.
- Partner closely with IT and business stakeholders to implement data taxonomy, governance solutions, and enterprise data architecture capabilities.
- Lead the transition of data programs from project implementation into sustainable, SLA-driven operational services and governance models.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements, protecting data as a secure and trusted enterprise asset.
- Develop the future data landscape by extending governance from master data to transactional, digital, asset, and analytics data, while preparing the organization for advanced analytics and AI adoption.
- Build and develop a high-performing global data team, strengthen data literacy across the organization, and manage strategic partnerships within the GBS operating model.
- Provide executive reporting, governance metrics, and strategic insights to the Transformation Office Director, ExCo, and Transformation Steering Committee.
What we’re looking for
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Management, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, master data management (MDM), data quality management, and data operating models.
- Knowledge of modern enterprise data platforms, data architecture principles, and MDM technologies.
- Business fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and information security frameworks.
Experience
- 10-15 years of experience in enterprise data management, master data, data governance, or related disciplines within complex multinational organizations.
- Proven track record of delivering and embedding large-scale master data harmonization or MDM programs.
- Experience designing and operating enterprise data governance frameworks and data quality programs.
- Experience building and leading global data organizations, Centres of Excellence, or GBS/shared-services models.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional transformation initiatives in matrix organizations.
- Experience managing multicultural teams and collaborating across regions and business functions.
- Exposure to enterprise reporting, EPM, finance transformation, or large-scale business transformation programs is highly desirable.
