About The Event
In 1997, Sunstar and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry held a symposium entitled “Sunstar-Chapel Hill Symposium '97 on Periodontal Diseases and Human Health: New directions in periodontal medicine”. That symposium was a groundbreaking event held at the dawn of research focused on the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases, where medical and dental experts from around the world gathered to share and discuss the then current science and future outlook.
20 years later, the “UNC Perio 2017 Expo” hosted by the UNC School of Dentistry was sponsored by an educational grant from Sunstar. As an international conference that highlighted the progress made over the last 20 years as well as future prospects within the field, the symposium attracted dental professionals and researchers from the United States and abroad and included an educational program delivered by world-renowned dental and medical specialists.
