Awards
World Dental Hygienist Award
Together with two regional awards of distinction – in Europe, and North America – the World Dental Hygienist Awards form a unique awards program designed to celebrate dental hygienists all over the world. They are presented every two years at the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH). The awards consist of a trophy, cash prizes, and reimbursement for participation and travel to the ISDH. Nominations for the 2026 awards are now closed.
World Perio Research Awards
The World Perio Research Awards are intended to promote further research advances in oral health and systemic health, in collaboration with four prestigious journals in the field of periodontal research. The first-place recipient will receive USD 10,000 and each of the two runners-up will receive USD 5,000.

Perio Link Award
The Perio Link Award aims to raise awareness of the link between oral and general health among the general public and is an extension of the World Perio Research Award. The winner receives the Sunstar Foundation trophy, a monetary recognition of USD 1,000 and one round trip Airfare, hotel accommodation and registration to the EuroPerio11 Congress. Deadline for Submission of Videos: September 30th, 2024.

AAP’s Sunstar Innovation Grant
The AAP’s Sunstar Innovation grant supported member research that aimed to identify novel and innovative evidence-based periodontal treatment approaches to enhance patient care. Over three years, a $250,000 grant program was divided among six winning principal investigators, who presented their research at subsequent Annual Meetings.
