The 2018 World Perio Research Award

In 2003, the SUNSTAR Foundation established the “World Perio Research Award”, intended for researchers and clinicians responsible for key research advances in investigating the connection between periodontal disease and the overall health of our body. Indeed, the association between periodontal disease and a wide range of systemic conditions is supported by significant findings.
This chronic inflammation of the gum tissue would over the years cause serious medical conditions, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, adverse pregnancy outcomes, osteoporosis.
Today, the “World Perio Research Award” has become an ongoing tradition, which represents an international benchmark in the fight against periodontal disease and its potential side effects.
Presently, the SUNSTAR Foundation is pleased to announce this call for research papers on “The Relationship between Periodontal Disease and Systemic Health”, in collaboration with four prestigious journals in the field of periodontal research:
- Journal of Periodontology
- Journal of Clinical Periodontology
- Journal of Periodontal Research
- Journal of Dental Research
The submission deadline for applicants will be December 31, 2017.
The papers will be eligible to receive the Sunstar Foundation “World Perio Research Award”, in the hope of promoting further research advances in oral medicine, as well as a quality enhancement of systemic health.
